NACHO CHEESE!

A ginormous YAY that the Chilean miners are finally coming up from that terrible accident!

~

Another, far less profound tidbit: am I the only one who cannot WAIT to see the movie Red? It looks so awesome, and WHAT A CAST!

I'm sure you're shocked to hear me announce

And I am a little ashamed to announce that I never cease to find this Cheez It commercial hilarious:

NACHO CHEESE! LOL

Yes, I am 12. Or maybe, in this case, 5.

Holy shit! Rick Springfield is on The View. I used to LOVELOVELOVE him when I was a kid. Seriously. Love. He was one of my absolute pre-teen heartthrobs. Him and Shawn Cassidy and Rex Smith. Then Matt Dillon, then Jon Bon Jovi. Then I discovered actual real life boys, and well... I didn't re-discover my inner geek until much later in life, as you guys know. *G*

Anyway, hearing Rick talk about his terrible struggle with depression is sort of inspiring. You never really think about your childhood heroes having the same issues as you do, you know? I mean, unless you write fanfic about them. ;)

~

I am SO glad that some things went a little smoother for SamCro this week. The unending parade of misery was starting to get to be a little much. Not that they're out of the woods yet by ANY stretch of the imagination. I mean, you know Stahl isn't shooting from the hip -- she's selling out her lover? WTF? (I'm also more than a little BOO! on the Evil Lesbian trope, but...) Methhead Skinner is back, and you KNOW that's not good. The crap with the sheriff, the mayor and his campaign. PLUS they still have to go to Ireland and deal with that crap. And Gemma isn't totally free yet either. So... smooth today, probably rough again next week!

30 Day Memes DAY FOUR!

I'm really enjoying the conversations these are engendering. Thanks for commenting, guys!

Your favorite quote: Oh my, um... This is going to require some research, isn't it? I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to do it by season, because there's just too many.

Season 1: Lafayette -- "'Scuse me. Who ordered the hamburger... with AIDS? In this restaurant, a hamburger deluxe comes with french fries, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and AIDS! Do anyone got a problem wit dat? Aw baby, it's too late for that. Faggots been breeding your cows, raisin' your chickens, even brewin' your beer long before I walked my sexy ass up in this mother f***er. Everything on your God damn table got aids. Well all you gots to do is say hold the aids here. Eat it! Bitch, you come into my house ,you gonna eat the food THE WAY I F***IN' MAKE IT! Do you understand me? Tip your waitress."

Season 2: Eric -- "They're like humans but miniature. Teacup humans."

Season 3: Eric (to Pam) -- "You know I love you more when you're cold and heartless." Closely followed by Pam to Bill: "This is not just about your relationship, you infatuated tween! There's a bigger picture." and Pam: "Blah, blah -- vampire emergency -- blah."

And of course, one cannot list season three quotes without mentioning the wonderful Russell Edgington: "(Hisses) We will eat you, after we eat your children. (Perky)Now time for the weather. Tiffany?"

favourite episode: Well, IWRY for obvious reasons -- and profound Angel-the-character reasons, imo. But I also love flashback episodes that give insight into Angel's past, like Somnambulist, The Prodigal, Are You Now or Have You Other Been, Dear Boy, Darla, etc.

favourite episode: What's My Line 1 & 2, tied with Becoming 1&2 (I consider each half really part of one episode.) The former, I think, contains all the elements that constitute a classic BtVS episode (plus it contains the first B/A scene I ever saw, and that initially sucked me into the show). Becoming? Is just a beautiful freaking piece of television. That ending... nothing on TV has ever torn me apart like the ending of Becoming Part 2. I was spoiled, unfortunately, to Angel's inevitable return (because it came out he was getting his own show) so I can't even imagine what a mess I would have been if I hadn't been! STILL I was depressed for weeks afterward.

My favorite episode of Angel is "Darla". I think it was the most well-written episode they created. Every time I watch it, I'm torn between which pairing I love the most: Angel/Darla, Lindsey/Darla or Angel/Lindsey. Holland Manners is just manipulative beyond words, using both Darla and Lindsey in his insidious plans. You can see Lindsey's dissatisfaction with the firm and with Holland in particular begin to solidify further in the episode. And Julie Benz was awesome in her performance as a vulnerable yet strong-willed Darla.

I can't pick just one single episode of Buffy as my favorite; there are too many to pick from.

"Darla" is a great episode, and the electric chemistry you mention is so evident. I wonder who directed it, because all the actors really brought it for that one, too. *hasn't had enough coffee to bother Googling it yet*

My MOM can't wait to see Red. I think the whole fam will go--dad for the action/adventure, mom for the cast, and me for both. Looks great!

It really does, and I don't usually go much for spy stuff!

For some reason, Clay telling Tig, "Really?" after he voted out K-what'shisname was one of my favorite parts of the episode.

I'm also more than a little BOO! on the Evil Lesbian trope, but...

I am too, especially since she's such a rare portrayal of a bisexual woman, but it's somewhat tempered by the fact that I love to hate her. She's not just evil now that she's canonically fucking a woman, she's been evil all along. (I'm also not sure if evil actually works to describe her; I mean, yes, she does some shitty things and obviously the POV of the show casts her as the villain against Samcro, but on the other hand, at least earlier, she was taking risks to do her job. Risks that might have been acceptable, except they led to Donna dying and so I hate her for them, acceptable risks with unforeseeable consequences or not.)

Oh, sure, if you're going to be FAIR and all... ;)

It's one of those shows (Dexter is similar) where you're really rooting for criminals, but you love them so much, it's easy to forget. They're our anti-heroes, and "The Law" SUCKS! They're the enemy! Especially when Stahl does so many underhanded things to either get the job done or save her own hide. I'm dying to know -- WHY IS SHE TOTALLY SELLING OUT HER GIRLFRIEND? Although.. she is right, there's no evidence... I don't know, sorry, I'm going off on a tangent. LOL I love this show.

Um, right. SoA RULES! ;)

Tangents are good! Because SoA does RULE!

One of the things I love, actually, is that the show makes the law the bad guy, because yeah, the law IS sometimes the bad guy. Sorry, law, I have little faith in you for the most part. But also, it really highlights the way people can be backed into corners and make really horrific decisions that have terrible consequences because they think it's the best option, no matter what side they're on. As much as I hate Donna's death, it fits that nicely; Donna wouldn't have been dead but for a number of people on different sides of the law making really bad decisions they thought would do good (by their own definition of good). (And for me, it's easier to hate Stahl and Tig than Clay, because I went into the show adoring Clay so fucking much, but really, the blame can pretty squarely be laid on his head. Yeah, Stahl played him, and yeah, Tig is the weapon, but Clay gave the order. So really, even the audience's reaction to something like Donna's death shows that, under certain circumstances, we will accept [and possibly make excuses for] [and potentially forgive] truly horrific things.)

Gemma's current plot fits this, too, in a way; if everyone had just learned from the mistakes of last season (that keeping secrets from the club and from your family leads to some shit, okay), she would have never called Stahl to make a deal just so she could see Abel AND she might not have had the heart attack. (She might have, though, I'll give them that.) But instead, despite all the lessons a bunch of characters have supposedly learned over the past couple seasons, they keep the secret from her and then she does the unexpected (by THEM. How they didn't fucking see that coming, especially Tara, I DO NOT KNOW).

Obviously, going off on a tangent about the show is something I support. :D

I’m so thrilled that those miners are all out safely. I kept expecting something to go wrong, but thankfully it didn’t. It will be hard for them to adjust back their lives now, if that is at all possible now that they’ve become celebrities.

I hadn’t seen that cheese advert before and now I will never be able to think of mature cheese in quite the same way again…!

NACHO CHEESE! BWAH!

It makes me laugh EVERY time!

My family and I actually sat down and watched the news coverage (skimpy as it was here in the States) of the Miners' rescue. Of course, our news thought the best story was the one about the guy with the mistress and the wife who found out about each other through the disaster, and the wife didn't show up to the rescue because she was mad.

Long live the USA -- we're more concerned about prurient gossip than human lives.

The Adored Spouse and I are both really interested in Red. Huge Helen Mirren fans since she played Morgan Le Fey in John Boorman's Excalibur. The rest of the cast members aren't bad, either, lol!

I KNOW! I'm a freak for John Malkovich, especially, and just the idea of he and Dame Mirren in a movie with Morgan Freeman AND the adorable Karl Urban? How could I possibly say no?

I almost never go to the theater anymore... except for the Harry Potter movies ;)... but I might make an exception for Red!
