I just wanted to say ital_gal for donating to the It Gets Better campaign on LJ in my name, and giving me those cute little purple bears! They're so cute!

~

Hee. How to Pet a Kitty.

Also, 17 Things Worth Knowing About Your Cat -- and having nothing to do with cats, I didn't know that guinea pigs, squirrels, lemurs, elephants, and gorillas also purr? Cool!

~

Wow, this episode was really powerful. It's just not fair that Hank breaks my freaking heart at the end of every episode, it seems. I'll miss Steph. :(

30 Days Memes, DAY TWELVE

A scene/moment that pissed you off: In a textual way, or one when I watched it made me reconsider wanting to watch the show ever again? Well, Tara never catching any kind of break is starting to get more than a little grating. And I continue to think that the scene with Bill and Lorena in bed is one of the most unnecessarily gruesome and gratuitous piece of crap I've ever seen. The convergence of rage, sex, and that kind of violence literally made me sick. It shows a lack of imagination and a willingness to do anything to titillate, which makes me lose a lot of respect for Alan Ball.

least favourite season: Three. It was so bad, it took most of season 4 to fix the crap. The mishandling of the Connor storyline, the forced C/A nonsense, the stumbling around by the writers who seemingly had no idea what the hell to do after Darla died, the massive screwing of Cordelia, the list goes on and on.

least favourite season: Seven. What a waste of the final season. Between the lame ass lack of action on the part of the "First Evil," The Spike Show, and the freaking endless stream of minor characters pouring across the screen every week (i.e. the Potentials), there was hardly any story left for Buffy and the, you know, characters we actually cared about.

True Blood: It made me sick too; sicker than Seeing Red did and I didn't think that was possible. (Also, I was right. They didn't do the trunk thing.)

I KNOW. I mean, I am a huge horror geek -- there's not a lot that offends me. But the confluence of sex, violence against women, and the complete lack of fictional vampire violence cues (except for her screaming how she wanted it and loved him, which, imo, makes it worse), it's just disgusting. Much like Seeing Red, as you say, and for much the same reasons, except of course, Buffy very clearly did not want it.

Another thing that infuriates me about both of these is the way they're treated both in text and by the writers -- as just some throwaway plot point to forward their story. It's really repulsive.

Yeah, they didn't do the trunk thing -- they never could have gotten away with that. Although Spike got away with "almost" doing it with visceral violence. Of course, that's because he was the writers' and the audience's golden boy, and by that point could pretty much do no wrong.

Not that I'm bitter. *G*

Who ever would have thought we'd like Alec Baldwin? FTW!

I KNOW. I mean, I realize he's kind of a jerk in real life -- I don't think I'll ever get that phone call with him calling his kid a PIG out of my head.

Yeah, I don't have any excuse for liking his support of a cause that's important to me. Or for thinking he's a really funny actor. *sigh* I'm so cheap and easy.

hey thank you for reminding us.

probably not the right place for this comment, but can I tell you how much I loved A Big Universe of Suck. Finished reading it last week. Something old was great, but this particular story may have been my favorite.

Gee, living in Italy has shielded me from knowing about Alec Baldwin being a jerk. Was happier not knowing...

of course complete agree with your memes.

Awww, thank you! There's never a bad place to hear positive feedback! *hugs*

Sorry, didn't mean to blow the Alec thing for you. I of course don't know all the details, just what was reported on the tabloid TV shows -- he and Kim Basinger's divorce and custody stuff apparently got really ugly. I'll just leave it at that. My professional recommendation for denial is plugging your ears, closing your eyes and going "Lalalalalalalalala."

That's what I do, anyway. ;)

Hm. I'm not sure where the first parts of Rise are. You might try Chrislee's archive?

Ah, yes, here it is: http://www.octavesoftheheart.com/iwry/iwry27_07.htm
