Still fully in the grips of my Free Realms addiction. I can't help it -- they're doing a Halloween themed thing, and I get to dress up like a vampire and go treak or treating. SHUT UP! ;)

RIP Paul the Psychic Octopus. :(

~

I admit, I'm of two minds on this episode. I was absolutely thrilled with the concept when I heard they were going to do it, but of course SO much of what makes Rocky ROCKY has to be excised for television (although... I think the Simpsons and Family Guy get away with a whole lot more.) For example, "Toucha Toucha Toucha Touch Me" -- Overall, it was absolutely hilarious. I mean, Emma stripping Will, Brittany and Santana singing in the window of the classroom. But it really BUGGED me that they changed the lyrics. I know someone not familiar with Rocky wouldn't notice, and the lyrics were... a little "racy" but... it through me out of the scene (mostly because it screwed up my singing along.) It bugged me that Mercedes was Frank. It's just wrong not to cast a male transvestite, I'm sorry. And her voice was WRONG WRONG WRONG for the role as much as her look. And "Sensational Transylvania" ARGH. That bugged me (probably because that's my favorite line in the movie). But Kurt as Riff Raff (I was so happy he was all, "Hello, Gay, Tranvestite, not the same thing! -- paraphrasing, of course), Santana as Magenta (SQUEEEEE!), and Brittany as Columbia were awesome. John Stamos surprised me with his performance, and Becky's Sue Sylvester costume cracked me up. And of course, seeing Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf was a geeky joy. If only they could have gotten Tim Curry (which of course, would once again point to the WRONG WRONG WRONGNESS of Mercedes as Frankenfurter)! The new kid was a PERFECT Rocky (and Will's whole teenaged boy behavior regarding Emma and playing that role to impress her was hilarious and pathetic).

So overall, it was a really cute idea and a funny episode, but as a Rocky tribute, it bugged me in a lot of ways. I'm a geek who spent more Saturday nights than I can remember count. It used to be so awesome to get dressed up and scream and yell and throw stuff, then go out with a dozen people to IHOP at 3 am. Good times. Which is part of what made me so happy when John Stamos did "Whatever Happened to Saturday Night". So overall, I do have to say the Glee thing was fun. (I'm so ambivalent.)

Oh! I almost forgot -- Brittany's brilliance of the week:
Kurt: So what are you going as for Halloween?
Brittany: Oh, I'm going as a peanut allergy.

And hey, Mr. Schuster has a HOT body.

...?

How completely dysfunctional, and yet sweet, was the whole "Dad scares the shit out of his son every year to get a real hug?"

Frickin 9 year old Maw Maw KILLED ME. When she chased down and beat the shit out of the kid who stole her candy? BWAH. That last bitch was so MEAN. Come on, MawMaw is obviously addled, just give her some fucking candy. She totally deserved to be TP'ed. Fuck that cop too. Speaking of that TP job, it was a BEAUTY.

And the guys ate all the baby food as dip? Hee hee. OMG "Chew it up and spit it into her mouth, bird style." Idiots.

FUCK YOU WYATT. And also? FUCK YOU AGAIN.

Awww. Mistaken Identity Kissing. Poor Jimmy. Although he seemed pleased that he turned out to be a better kisser than Wyatt.

Hee. "I've been egging houses with 12-year olds all night. Is there any way you think I'm sober?"

"We sang her to sleep with a medley of classic Beatles songs. Marcus did the whistling part of Blackbird. It was beautiful."

It was frickin hilarious when the grocery store chick just rolled over and yacked on the floor during the touching denouement.

I'll try to catch up with a few more shows tomorrow. I have to go indulge my addiction right now. ;)

IOU MEME DAYS!

30 Days Memes, DAY FIFTEEN

A scene/moment that made you happy: When Jessica and Hoyt got back together, I totally cheered.

a scene that made you cry.: Pft. Half the series? But of course, the end of IWRY just about killed me, as did the end of NFA.

a scene that made you cry.: No doubt about this one -- the end of Becoming Part 2. Seriously, I was depressed for weeks after that. Same with after The Gift.

awesome. just what i need, another site to obsessively click through. very funny.

gee reading your posts makes me very sad that we are behind on tv over here. just yesterday the Glee season 1 finale.

sigh. miss rocky horror. hate that so many people I know now have have no idea what it meant to go see rocky horror and shout out and throw things (slight to younger and insecure to have ever dressed up). mercedes as frank is just so wrong it terrifies me that they thought of it. would have been awesome if they could have gotten tim curry (meatloaf, barry bostwick squee!) but really the only one i want to see dressed up in that corset is Mr Shue. Although, I guess now that I think on it, since he is their teacher maybe not quite the thing. sigh. still, the fantasizing....

did you see the cold case/rocky horror episode?

I've only touched the SURFACE of Reasoning With Vampires. Mostly because all I do is nod my head and go, "Yeah! Sing it, sister! Right on!" I think they should hand out a printed version of the blog with every copy of the Twilight books.

Oh, I know. There are still places that do Rocky, but I think it's a lot more sporadic than it was back in the 80's, and really only happens in bigger cities. I would love to go do it again!

Originally, Mike Chang was going to be Frankenfurter (which idea cracked me up), but when his parents read the script, they said NO WAY. I can't really blame them, I guess. Rocky isn't really appropriate for a school production. It's meant for sneaking out to see on Saturday night at midnight. *G*

Dude, Mr. Shue ends up half-naked at the end of "Toucha-Toucha-Toucha-Touch Me" -- wearing nothing on top but a tie. He is SMOKING freaking hot, dude.

I vaguely remember the Cold Case Rocky ep. I love that show. Wasn't it a sort of Brad/Janet kind of couple and the guy ended up dead? Sheesh, I don't remember!

Plus, bonus for when some Twilighter tries to give her a hard time and she rebuts them. good stuff.

gaaakkkkk. mr shue just wearing a tie. thank god someone to share my Will Shuester fetish. Plus his scenes with Neil Patrick Harris... double gaaakkkkk.

Barry Bostiwck is in the COld Case Rocky Horror. It doesn't go quite how you remember, but he is great and its one of the better episodes.

I agree with you 100% about the Glee Rocky Horror episode. "Toucha, Toucha, Touch Me" had me both laughing and cringing. We can how many erection jokes on any given night of television, but "seat wetting" is too risque?

I will say, though, that this is the first night of Glee that had me dancing and singing along in a long time. Overall, I'm glad they did it.

Yes on the hypocrisy of the way they censored Rocky! I mean... you can say "transvestite," but you can't say "transsexual"??? WHAT? I'm sorry, that whole number was just a mess, imo, and since it's my favorite, it really bugged.

I wanted to see Mike Change as Rocky. Hee. Actually, I wanted to see Mr. Shue as Rocky. *G*

But yeah, overall, I would rather have seen it than not. The more Rocky is brought into a newer generation's consciousness, the better! I mean, it's not really that racy anymore, is it? It's just fun. I just wish there was somewhere around here where I could go do it again! I did the Time Warp with the Glee kids the other night, and it was a BLAST... except, you know, it hurt my knee. ;)

I meant "Mike Chang," of course. *sigh* MORE COFFEE!
