The following has been deemed "offensive" and "privleged white people making fun of racism without actually doing any work," and called bad on all kinds of levels, as you can see if you read the comments.

I thought it was fucking brilliant. But I'm white, so I guess that must be my privlege talking.

http://community.livejournal.com/debunkingwhite/818135.html

Please don't spam the comments. I think you have to be a member to post. I know "it's" not about me, but it's fucking exhausting and depressing to love all people equally, to try and combat racism where I find it and do my best to be a good overall human being, and be told that I'm still a racist asshole and that nothing I can ever do, however positive, is ever good enough. Whatever. No wonder more people don't struggle to be anti-racist allies.

I mean, what would be the appropriate response, standing there shouting back at them? Shooting them in the face? Tempting, but has violence ever worked against this sort of thing?

Do I still have to put American Idol stuff behind a cut? Does anybody with a computer NOT already know who won? Eh, fuck it. American Idol )

Shine on, Adam baby, YOU ROCK. You're the only reason I got so invested in this season in the first place. Hopefully it won't happen again. I believe a law should be passed that NO ONE should be able to be the American Idol without ROCKING a pair of six inch platform boots. *nods*

I need an icon of that outfit, STAT. And to see a remake of something glammy with Adam in the starring role. Rocky, maybe? (Horror Picture Show, not the boxing one.)

Hm. I suspect I'll be watching the Vampire Diaries in the fall. Whee! Anybody know what night it's on yet?

Ugh. Now I'm nauseous. WTF, body?

OMGDOOM! FRINGE IS OPPOSITE SUPERNATURAL IN THE FALL! *sobs*

I mean, it's not that big of a deal -- I can watch whichever one I miss the next day, but MAN isn't SPN going to get whomped? Maybe not, and isn't season 5 the last anyway? I guess I'm just sad that my TV schedule is so damn EMPTY in the fall because so many of my favorite shows are opposite one another. I haven't done up the chart yet *cough*geek*cough*, so I can't get a good visual, but from what I can see, I'll be finding other things to do with my time than watch TV. Which... is actually a good thing, when I think about it.

You know I have a penchant for cruising the Friends of Friends feature at LJ. Randomosity is fun. The only thing I DON'T like is there's like FIVE MILLION posts from [info] - communityohnotheydidnt, of which I am generally not a fan. I want to be nosey about other people's fannish lives, not read unending celebrity gossip -- I have special sites for that! *pouts*

Disappointing procrastination activity is disappointing. (This whine does not apply to [info] - communityontd_political, which can actually be fun.

I found this in my random LJ wanderings today, and it brought tears to my eyes.

Image
President Barack Obama bends over so the son of a White House staff member can pat his head during a family visit to the Oval Office May 8, 2009. The youngster wanted to see if the President's haircut felt like his own.

I love my president. Not just as a symbol, but as a person. I've never felt that way about a president before, not even my beloved The Bill. I mean, I love The Bill, don't get me wrong, but I don't admire and respect him the way I do Obama. And that's even with some of the serious issues I have about some of the things going on in the administration right now.

~

Ha! Also from my random wanderings, over at [info]oberongeiger's place: - Saddest news of the upfronts: The CSI spinoff "NCIS" is now getting its own spinoff. Cop show spinoffs getting their own cop show spinoffs?! WTF, bro? Remember: Help control the cop show population, have your cop show spayed or neutered.

Hey cat people -- how cool is THIS?

I forgot to wish BABY A HAPPY 36th (or possibly 37th) BIRTHDAY! (Yes, David, I remember your ACTUAL birthday...)

So Dickhead Trump got his own "YOU'RE FIRED!"

Who's a loser now, you tacky, ugly fuck?

Heh. In case it was a mystery, I can't stand him. I'm not a fan of Rosie O'Donnell, but anybody who says the kind of vicious crap he did about her in public deserves whatever he gets.

I mean... where does a guy with a combover like that get off?

~

Anyhoo... I keep forgetting to post ALL of my work that's now available online. I know I missed a few while I was sick, and we wouldn't want that now, would we? *G*

The Complete Official H.A. Fowler Ouvre )

So the upfronts are all finished, and it's time to take a look at the fall schedule.

First: Goodbye, Veronica Mars. I loved the first season, disliked the second, and kept forgetting to watch the boring third, so... I can't say I'm surprised. Frankly, I think the show was lucky to last as long as it did. The CW took a chance renewing it, and lost. I hear there's some possibility that it might come back mid-season, but 1.) I'm not holding my breath, and 2.) I'm not really much interested anymore anyway.

Onward to my tentative Fall TV Schedule )

For a breakdown of the results of the recent Up Fronts, check out The Wikipedia article.

And in other news - SQUEEEEE BLAKE! SQUEEE! He has no chance in hell of winning, considering Jordin has a MUCH better voice (she's really an incredible singer), but man, I'm so sick to death of big-voiced divas.

I actually voted like, five times this week. *G* Will do the same this week. I really like Blake -- not my style of music, but at least he's DIFFERENT.

GO BLAKE!

Yes, I am that lame. Thank you for noticing.
